It doesn’t take a genius to look around and see this world is falling apart. Even a child can tell you that something is majorly wrong with the world we live in. There is war, poverty, and all types of suffering in every nation. Our bodies are getting sick, decaying, and dying. But God has given us a promise that this won’t last forever.
He has given us a promise that there is a kingdom coming that is rich in Good News. A kingdom of righteousness, peace, and justice. A kingdom with no more war and so peaceful that lions will eat plants and animals won’t kill each other for food.
This kingdom is man’s hope of the restoration of our bodies and the resurrection of the dead, eternal life, and forgiveness of sins. It will have a king that always judges in righteousness. A king that cares for the poor & needy. A king that opens blind eyes & unplugs deaf ears. He is a king that is the desire of all the nations. He is a king that freely gives abundant life to all that desire Him. And a king that lays down His life for His people.
This Good News is the only hope for a dying world. God has given His church the mission of spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ to all the people groups in the world (Matthew 28:18-20). We have the privilege of blessing the whole word with this wonderful saving knowledge of Jesus Christ who can restore us back to our creator. The church has been on this mission for the past 2,000 years. But unfortunately, so far it has been a massive failure. Forty percent of the world’s population is still unreached, living without any opportunity to know their God. That’s 3.2 Billion people that still don’t have access to the gospel.
The Bible tells us in Matthew 24:14 that these 3.2 Billion people need to hear the gospel before Jesus will return to re-create the earth and make all things new. We believe that for this mission to be completed and the bride to meet her bridegroom, we need to devote ourselves to this task! And we also believe the church needs to change her strategy. We need to change it the best we can back to the strategy that Jesus used and commanded the church to use to reach the world. The strategy of making disciples. Making disciples that make disciples, that make disciples, and multiply throughout the earth.
There are many concepts and traditions that have made their way deep into our hearts and minds that prevent us from completing this mission. For one example, during the formation of the Roman Catholic church in the 4th century, the Old Testament priesthood was reinstated into the church creating two classes of Christians called clergy and laity. This concept still lives on in today’s church. This creation of a 2nd class Christian called the laity has burdened down the church with passive non-active believers that are not taught or equipped how to live a Christ-like life. To reach the world we need the life that Jesus described the normal Christian life would look like (Mark 16:15-18)(John 14:12).
The normal Christian life of a disciple of Jesus with the power of the Holy Spirit to heal sick people, drive out demons, and boldly proclaim the gospel of the kingdom in the face of fierce persecution. Loving the way God loves. Giving mercy where judgment is due. Being patient with one another, making allowance for each other’s faults because of our love. Every believer is called to this life, not just a few.
I believe God is restoring the way that He intended disciple-making to be! I believe God is restoring His church to the splendor and integrity He originally designed! We don’t have everything figured out, but we are learning and growing together! I have met so many others that are longing to see these truths restored. God is doing something incredible in our generation, taking us for a journey, and I are very excited to be on this journey with you!
As we go Through this journey together keep an open heart and mind to what God is showing you through these posts I hope as a body of believers that we can Grow together and become the good ground that God has called us to be.
